Louis boxes
The cabinet was designed to function in two ways the base unit is a functional cupboard and the top boxes display both Bristol blue glass objects and also books. Each box is lined with mirror which gives an added sense of depth and enables an all round view of the objects. The base box has marquetry doors with the central feature being a Louis XIV Cube design. The juxtaposition of traditional box patterns combined with contempory box forms provides a link between the historical development of craft practice and the timeless nature of the contents being housed.
